Neuropathy

Neuropathy can be caused by hundreds of underlying conditions, including diabetes, chemotherapy treatments, some autoimmune diseases, some cancers, infections and more. The symptoms can be debilitating, and for many patients, the medical approach—typically, a variety of medications—is not effective and/or produces unwanted side effects.

At Town Center Chiropractic, Dr. Nicolas has over twenty years’ experience helping patients with neuropathy find relief without drugs.

NEW Patients

Symptoms may vary, but generally include numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, a burning sensation, sensitivity to touch, balance or coordination problems, feeling like you’re wearing gloves or socks when you are not, and more. The symptoms you experience depend on which nerves are affected.

We begin with an in-depth consultation, and Dr. Nicolas will talk with you about any underlying medical conditions that may be contributing to or causing your symptoms. He’ll conduct a thorough examination to locate any areas of subluxation, and, based on your health history and diagnosis, he’ll design a care plan tailored to your specific situation. This plan will likely include chiropractic adjustments to relieve pressure on nerves, as well as laser therapy to help heal damaged nerve fibers.

Most patients experience noticeable relief after just one session. However, it will take 12-15 sessions to achieve your optimal healing.

Laser Therapy for Neuropathy

We use a Class IV medical laser, which uses specific frequencies of red light. This “cold laser” does not produce any heat, is radiation-free and non-invasive. Unlike medications, there are no documented serious side effects with the use of cold laser therapy; it’s even safe for pregnant women and unborn babies.

The laser directs a beam of light into the damaged tissues, where the light creates a reaction at the cellular level. This reaction stimulates the body’s own healing response, sending oxygen and healing nutrients to the injured nerve cells to facilitate healing.
